His left hand still works so that’s what Sergeant Eddie uses to express thanks for kind words of encouragement sent via Operation PAL.
You can read so much about his character through the hand-written note: His determination to use what abilities he has to communicate what he needs to say, for example. Or his compassion for others in that he wants to make sure you know your prayers and cards are appreciated.
Eddie’s injuries are severe. Three years ago, he was shot twice in the head in Iraq and he has been battling to regain functionality ever since. He’s not walking yet but has been able to stand. His speech is limited but memory is good and improving. He has limited use of his right arm but the left one works and for that he is grateful. Recoveries such as this one take years and encouragement is needed every step of the way. We currently have 40+ names of Wounded Warriors whose families have requested support.
Please consider sending a card to each of them. This is a perfect project for church groups, school classes, veterans’ groups, etc. Print the list of names and take it with you, or give it to a teacher. We update the list often so be sure to check back as names are added and removed.
Sgt Eddie was added to the Operation Prayers and Letters program on June 29th, 2009. To view his Operation PAL listing, Click here…
