Information and Updates for LCpl. Arturo with 2/7
Last Update: 6/23/2010             << Back to list

Operation PAL Participant LCpl Arturo suffered small arms fire to his torso and hand in April. He said he'd LOVE to hear from people all over the country.

Update: His severe and painful internal injuries will take many months and more surgeries to correct.

Update: November 2007 Our volunteer who visits says he's an upbeat guy who is very thoughtful of others. Her nieces appreciated the ice pops he arranged to have for them when they visited. What a sweetie!

Update: January 2008 Arturo's next surgery had to be postponed because of ongoing infections. Please help him with words of encouragement while enduring what must seem like an eternity of pain.

Update: Feb 2008 Arturo is headed for another intensive surgery on Feb 12. It is expected to take 10-15 hours and is only one more step in his recovery. Please help boost his morale by writing and helping him through this.

Update: 2/14/08 His surgery could not be completed and he will have to undergo a second one as soon as tomorrow. This is really a critical time for him.

Update: 4/7/08 Arturo has has some ups and downs but is looking forward to his 21st birthday coming up soon. Hopefully he will be able to eat cake and that will be a real treat as he's only been able to sip water for a while. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Arturo!

Update June 25, 2008 from our volunteer: "Just a quick update, Arturo got married to his sweetheart Mary! One of Arturo's buddies had introduced them while he was in the hospital. They are planning on a large ceremony later down the line. They have an apt and Arturo is working at MedHolding
and going in daily to the hospital for potassium IV. His spirits are good, he is getting stronger everyday. Life is definately looking up for this young man that has given so much for his country. May God continue to bless him."

Update 7/24/08 Arturo and his wife have two new pets, "Brut" the chihuahua and a baby python. I wonder if they get along! Even though he can't lift anything, he volunteered to help the wife of a fellow Marine moving to be with her newly wounded husband. He is such a good guy and we understand he is loving living the married life.

Update: 5/28/2009 Arturo is starting to attend classes while continuing his recovery. He would like to be a teacher and football coach. We are glad your mind can focus on schooling Arturo and we will root you on.

Update: 1/31/2010 We had previously taken Arturo off our list and posted that he was ready to move on with his life, but he and Mary are back and requesting your continued support. Arturo has just been diagnosed with more complications from his injuries and they are struggling with this news. It changes his plans once again for school and delays his progress further. Even though we had taken him off the list, we are putting him back on because they are in need of support more than ever. Please continue sending comfort and cheer to Arturo and Mary as they face these new challenges.

Update 6/23/2010 Arturo could use some extra prayers this week. The good news is that a doctor he has found thinks he can fix him. The bad news is that it means another exploratory, and that will happen later this week. Please keep this sweet couple in your prayers, that the doctor can see what's going on enough to make a plan, and that the plan works.
