Information and Updates for LCpl.  Bobby Update: 12/23/2009 with 1/5 Alpha Co.
Last Update: 12/23/2009             << Back to list

Operation PAL Participant LCpl. Bobby was wounded by an IED explosion in Afghanistan this week that took the life of another Marine. Bobby suffered severe shrapnel wounds to his legs and abdomen along with a punctured pelvis. He is married to Ashley and his Mom, Dee, is one of our chat room moderators. Please take a moment to send some encouragement as this family bravely takes on a new challenge.

Update 8/29/2009: Mom reports he has the most damage to his left leg and now are determining next steps. Shrapnel has left a hole in his pelvic bone which will not require surgery. Pray for his leg to have movement and feeling other than a burning sensation.

Update 9/3/2009 from Mom: Bobby's doing well enough to begin a home recuperative leave. After that the plan is to get physical therapy near his home.
That's great news and it means your prayers are working!

Update 11/08/2009 from Mom: Bobby is making great progress as far as his recovery from his wounds. He is now well enough to fly home by himself for a short visit (YEA!) He has received an outpouring of support from Operation PAL along with many other organizations and wishes to say "Thank you" to those who offered words of support and encouragement.

Update: 12/23/2009 from Mom - Bobby is doing well enough to be removed from Operation Pal. The support that comes from this program is truly a godsend to many injured Marines. I want to thank you for your kind words during those very very scary days and for posting updates of his recovery.
Bobby's unit, the 1/5, is now safely home. There is much to be thankful for this Christmas.
