Sgt. Joshua's convoy was hit with an explosive device in Afghanistan in early July, 2009. He suffered the loss of one leg and multiple fractures, including his back and arm. His family would appreciate your prayers and cards filled with wishes for his recovery.
Update July 13, 2009: Sgt. Joshua's sister is providing updates on his condition, she says he is doing as good as can be expected for the injuries he has sustained. His surgery scheduled for today went well, but it was very long, 13 hours. Joshua's family wants everyone to know that all the prayers are working and to please, keep praying for him.
Update July 14, 2009: Sgt. Joshua's sister states he should be returning to the US on Friday. Sgt. Joshua greeted his parents entering his room this morning stating "Welcome to Germany." He knows the extent of his injuries and understands the recovery will be long but he is upbeat and said he will be "fine." He has a little fever which they are treating, right now, everything looks good. She says she is so proud of her brother and his strength. His family believes that your prayers are working and ask that you continue sending them his way. Please keep praying for this warrior and send him cards of encouragement.
Update 8/28/2009 from Dad:
Joshua has been moved to a VA rehab facility. His shrapnel wounds were nasty and are taking longer to start healing than they originally thought. He's in the spinal cord ward and will now be working on therapy as his injuries permit.
Hang in there Joshua. We are with you 100%.
Update 9/20/2009 We've heard from his Mom:
Josh is the most determined person she's ever seen. He is in a lot of physical pain, but tries so hard at physical therapy and his attitude is great. It will be a long road, but she's assured him he will never be alone.
This is where you come in. Help him to know that you are 'out there', from all over this country, rooting for him. Thanks much!
Update: 4/7/2010 Josh is well enough to be able to visit home for a few weeks. He was given a hometown hero's welcome and parade, which was well deserved. He has progressed much better than expected. He still needs more surgery on his back but he has been standing and is determined to walk again. He uses a wheelchair but will have intense rehab when he gets back. His sister says his attitude is unbelievable and he's the cheerleader for all the others going through rehab with him.
OohRah Josh!
